Mún (State)
Not to be confused with Mún (City).
The Mún is the name of a province located in the west of the Thyrosic Empire. Unique amongst the provinces of the Empire, the Mún has a blend of Dunaan/Thyrid culture, due to its origins. It is also one of the richest provinces in the empire, and is known for being the only province to have joined the Thyrosic Empire of its own accord, coming into the imperial domain in Zenith 216. In contrast to the rest of the Imperial provinces, the Mún is not governed by a Lord appointed by the Emperor, but rather an elected leader, known as a gaichanyc, derived from Thyridic gaichrnóc who is limited to a singular six year term as governor of the province. This is a homage to the Mún's heritage as part of the Republic of the Mún.
Landscape
The Mún is a fertile land, not unlike the neighboring Túnsen. Its landscape is a mixture of Túnsen, Pyra, and Thyressia, creating a pleasant and temperate environment. The rolling hills of in-land Mún are dotted with villages and houses, populated primarily by Thyrids. In the north of the province, the land is a little more sparse, owing to its close proximity to Hýrisin and Pyra.
Where the land meets the sea, the great maritime city of Mún is found, which gives its name to the province. Mún is considered by many to be the second city of the Thyrosic Empire, and some would even go as far as to call it the true capital.
Civilisation
Much of the population of Thyros' smallest province is centered in the city of Mún, however, many wealthy bankers and ship-lords own large demesnes in the countryside, and villages have sprung up in recent years to house the servants of the manor houses.
Villages along the outskirts are filled with farmers and other small-folk in contrast to the interior's wealth. Many in these areas identify far more strongly with the neighbouring provinces of Pyra, Thyressia, Túnsen, and Hýrisin than they do with the wealthy Dunaan of the city.
