Sunakal (Tai'ora: uncertain, lit. "Throw-Black") is an Earth-God residing in the sand dunes of the Ohkorra Desert. He takes the form of a giant serpent, although prior to his war with Skhela, he took the form of a dragon.
In the Kudes Era, Skhela engaged in a war with Sunakal, fought over control of greater Celadon. During their conflict, Sunakal flooded Skhela's former homeland of the Ohkorralta and Lake Desaka with sand, and turned the trees to stone. In retaliation, Skhela flattened the mountains of northern Celadon, cornering Sunakal, and tore off his limbs, relegating him to life as a serpent, banishing him to the newly-formed Ohkorra Desert.
In Taryphos cultures, warriors and hunters seeking to prove themselves as masters of their craft will traditionally seek out Sunakal in Ohkorra’s inner dunes. Traditionally, their goal is not to kill the Earth-God, which would prove impossible for one individual, but rather to wound its skin in a way that leaves a scar, proving their might as a hunter. Many unprepared fighters die in this process, although Sunakal himself welcomes the tradition, as it proves his power and sovereignty over the people of Ohkorra.
