Taekyr
Taekyr (Lyrian: unknown), also called Sun-Giant by the Leoth, was an ancient god-like giant present on Atheryin during the early Kudes Era. Its appearance was similar to that of the Apani, whom it created. It is believed that Taekyr was an aspect of Ugana's rage, angered at her death at the hands of her sons Kutsal and Kutaru.
History
Taekyr is described as emerging from "a dark chasm of ice beneath the world", somewhere near the northeast Faelands. It was not created directly by any being, but is believed to have manifested from Ugana's rage following her death.
Taekyr eventually created the other Apani by sculpting them from Ugana's blood, frozen in ice in the glaciers of the Faelands. It and the rest of the Apani were seemingly only capable of violence, feeding off of Harbingers and other large creatures as they roamed Atheryin, often killing for sport as well. Folk legends generally assume these creatures were attempting to kill off all life on Kyros, as Ugana was angered with Kutsal's bastardization of her original idea of creation. The Harbinger ancestors of Lyrians, the Apakasi, were notably plagued by these creatures, and roamed their homeland in constant pursuit by Taekyr and the Apani. This drove them into five separate regions, later known as the Kasijuri, which were more defensible from and difficult to access for the Apani. Still, these regions were far from entirely safe.
After Lurhasil's hatching inside Raven's Maw, he flew over the world, and felt pity for the creatures plagued by Taekyr and the Apani's malice. In response, he flew over the Faelands and breathed fire on the blood-glaciers, briefly flooding the world and drowning the Apani, with only Taekyr surviving. The melt waters created the rivers of the world as they receded, and the bones of the dead Apani became the mountains and canyons. Ugana's blood in these melt waters also created all of the fish in the rivers and the oceans.
Lurhasil then attempted to enact judgment upon Taekyr, but was stopped by Andain, who proclaimed himself as "Judge-Of-Judges". Andain then cleaved Taekyr in half, chaining each half to the Sun, enslaving Taekyr to pull the sun around the world for the rest of time. The two halves of Taekyr then became known as the moons, Aelan and Juran.
