World of Warcraft Upgrades and item upgrading (telegra.ph)

Upgrades increase the value of certain numeric stats on armor, weapons and rings. They also boost extra bonuses such as PvE damage and crit chance.

For example an item with the upgrade template that ends in % will suffer 3% attack damage every time it upgrades (relative to its previous value).

Item upgrading costs crests and the item's current level. The cost increases with item's level.

Components

upgrade item components can be incorporated into trinkets, weapons and armor in order to provide them with a boost in stats or an extra effect. They can be acquired through crafting, purchasing from vendors, trading or looting. Some upgrades also have special cosmetic effects.

Upgrade components are only available to equipment with a slot. The item must be upgraded to blue level before the component can be applied. Unlike other mods, upgrade components can only be used once; they cannot be applied multiple times or replaced with new upgrades. Infusions and Enrichments are a kind of upgrade component that can be used to upgrade non-amulet legendary and ascending equipment, as in some items that aren't ascended. Infusions and enrichments can be obtained by salvaging ascended equipment or completing a quest in the Prophecies, Factions, and Nightfall campaigns.

A prefix or suffix may be added to an upgrade, which alters the name of the item it is applied to (for example 'Canthan Armor Insignia,' is changed to Canthan Armor Minor Vigor). Certain upgrades can increase the Mark Level or Rarity of an item, allowing players create stronger versions with less Upgrade crystals than they need to reach the same level using normal methods.

A boost upgrade can alter the attack or defense properties of a weapon, or armor. These upgrades can be crafted from the Portative Forging Station once the player completes the cutscene and defeats the Crazed Mechanic. They can be dropped by enemies when upgrading other gear or buying them from the cash shop for 500 upgrade crystals.

The player can get a maximum of five boost upgrades at a time; each upgrade increases the likelihood that a higher-tier version of the item will be available in the next reset. This gives the player some incentive to continue upgrading their gear, even if they're unsure of how much it will improve after a future reset.

The boost upgrade may be successful or not, the process may be costly and there is a significant possibility that the item will be obsolete or even break if it fails; a unsuccessful upgrade could cause the destruction of the Upgrade Crystals and Assist Powder, as well as the upgraded item. Cash shop items can be used to minimize or eliminate the chance of failure. Some upgrades also give an additional bonus when reinserted.

Glyphs

Glyphs can be used to enhance the Paragon Board by placing them in sockets with special functions. Glyphs boost the effectiveness of all nodes in their radius and include pre-existing affixes to equipment. Glyphs can be upgraded in numerous ways. We suggest upgrading them as soon as possible to level 15.

In the final game you'll find that the best way to enhance your gear is to place Glyphs. They are the only upgrade components that can be upgraded straight to level 15, and they provide a large boost to your power and radius on the Paragon Board, enabling you to get higher nodes faster.

Most of the upgrades in the game can be replaced however, Glyphs are only the one upgrade component that can be removed and put back in place without restriction. Only legendary equipment can be salvaged and re-placed using a Black Lion Salvage Kit.

Each Glyph has a particular range of values that it can improve a statistic by. The value is displayed when you choose the Glyph in your inventory. You can choose to replace it with another Glyph of the same rank or a higher rank, which will boost the overall value of the glyph.

Glyphs can be found in the Black Lion Trading Post as part of the Gem Store bundle or purchase them with certain tools that are unlimited in use and also during Faction Crypt Raids. Each Faction Crypt could drop one of these Glyphs. There are some rare glyphs that you can find in any of the Faction Crypts.

Once you have obtained the desired Glyphs you'll require them to be put on your gear. Each Glyph will unlock a unique bonus that can boost a particular set of stat nodes in the vicinity of the Glyph. Depending on the Glyph the bonus will be +40 to one of your primary stats, or +25 to two of your secondary stats.

Glyphs boost all nodes connected to them, therefore it is best to place Glyphs in strategic places on the Graph. This will increase the impact. Druids for instance should position their Glyphs close to their primary damage nodes. They might also consider placing them near their critical damage nodes.

Leveling

The item upgrading system allows players to increase the performance of certain items by placing upgraded components in them. This is known as "upping". Each upgradeable item comes with an amount that determines its final upgraded stats. Upgraded items can be upgraded up to a maximum of 385. Each item level requires various components, and upgrade costs increase with each level.

Certain upgrades require an ingredient to be activated. This ingredient is obtained by completing upgrade items Recipes. These recipes can be purchased from NPCs or found on the upgrade tab of crafting tables. Each Upgrade Recipe completed will result in a certain amount of Technology points. These points can be used for the upgrading of an item. Once enough points are earned, you will be able to claim the upgrade and also receive the bonuses.

When a player upgrades an item to a higher level, the original item is replaced by a new item of the same kind. This means that the same armor piece will become an weapon or shield once upgraded. The new item also has its own bonus. This could be a drawback in that it could cause the item to become more expensive if you don't need it.

If the player has enough tokens, they can reroll item upgrades. This causes the item to be exchanged for a new one, which will come with the level 1 base, and a totally different set of extra bonuses. This can be beneficial however it should not be repeated often since it can waste resources.

Certain upgrades can increase their value and allow players to personalize their gear. An excellent example is Dolphin's Gift, which gives an increase in power when a player is repeatedly in and out of the water (or is able to swim like dolphins). This can be upgraded several times, each time increasing the max roll by a factor of 10. This item is very useful in PvP. A properly rolled version can be worth up to 50x the value of its non-upgraded version.

Requirements

Item upgrading allows players to increase the level of their available equipment--armor, weapons, and trinkets over ilvl 385 by presenting the appropriate items and currencies to an NPC who upgrades items. Upgrades to armor set pieces also increase the base defense of the piece, whereas upgrading weapon items will increase the base damage as well as the required strength and dexterity to meet the upgraded equipment's requirements.

All items can be upgraded up to five times except for hero equipment, which can be upgraded eight times. Each each time you upgrade an item, it is given a chance to fail--the rate of failure increases as you go beyond the maximum number of upgrades. Failures can cause the item to go to its original condition, which requires the user to spend more materials than they would have to had they stopped upgrading at the maximum amount of upgrades.

If an item is not upgraded the experience bar in the bar for growth will be reset to zero. The item will also lose any bonuses it has gained like crit chance attack damage, additional effects (such as increased heal over time, or the speed of reloading). The player can continue to use their weapon or armor even after the failure.

When an item is upgraded, the upgrades are applied from the lowest to the highest. This means that the weapon that is upgraded gains a crit chance increase it will be applied prior to any damage from attacks increases. Slots is a new attribute that has been added to item definitions. The value is recalculated every time an upgrade occurs.

The amount of resources needed to upgrade an item are determined by its rarity rating and upgrade slot count. The upgrade cost for non-premium items is the same as the base value of the upgrade--for instance, a typical equipment item upgrader mod could have five upgrades with a cost of 25,600 Technology Points and 4x Quality Improvement Chance. Hero quality items will have an incredibly lower cost for each additional upgrade.

Premium items have different upgrade requirements than standard gear--for instance, they might require fewer sowels, but more minerals and erons. The player will need to take every piece of equipment they want to upgrade to the NPC [ArmorBoboko. Boboko located in Central Flarine. Each upgrade to equipment will require different amounts of ingredients needed to upgrade, in addition to the costs that are listed above.
