Windjammer

Windjammers, or Gantaeoraka (Lyrian: lit. “one who blocks the wind”) are ancient Lyrian mechanical structures located throughout the former extent of the Lyrian Empire. It is believed that Windjammers were used as a means of quick communication throughout Lyrian territory, utilizing magic to transport simple codified messages to other Windjammers.

The machines derive their name from the mechanism of their action—by utilizing magical fields linked to other Windjammers, they were able to create “channels” of dead zones in the magical fallout from the Faelands (which primarily disperses across the globe through wind patterns), allowing highly energetic magic signals to pass from one location to another without being scrambled. Windjammers are thus notorious for creating large regions of completely windless weather around them, especially pointed in the direction of another Windjammer.
