Study of Chinese Learners' Pedagogical Choices in Korean

Despite its limitations, the DCT is a valuable tool for analyzing the relationship between prosody, information structure, and non-native speakers. Its ability in two or more stages to influence the social variables that are related to politeness is a plus. This ability can be used to study the role of prosody in different cultural contexts.

In the field of linguistics the DCT is now one of the primary tools to analyze learners' behavior in communication. It can be used to study numerous issues, like the manner of speaking, turn-taking and lexical choices. It can be used to assess phonological complexity in learners' speech.

Recent research utilized the DCT as tool to evaluate the refusal skills of EFL students. Participants were presented with a variety of scenarios to choose from and then asked to choose the most appropriate response. Then, we compared the selections with their linguistic performance using DCTs in order to determine if they are indicative of pragmatic resistance. The interviewees were asked to justify their decision to use pragmatic language in a particular situation.

The findings of the MQs and DCTs were then analysed using descriptive statistics and z-tests. The CLKs were discovered to use euphemistic terms such as "sorry" or "thank you". This was probably due to their lack of familiarity with the target languages, which led to a lack of understanding of the korean pragmatic norms. The results showed that, on average, the CLKs disapproved of the pragmatic norms of native speakers in more than 40% of their responses. They did this even though they could create native-like patterns. They were also aware of their pragmatism resistance. They attributed their choices to learner-internal aspects such as their personalities and identities that are multilingual, as well as ongoing lives. They also spoke of external factors like relational benefits. For instance, they outlined how their relationships with professors led to an easier performance in relation to the intercultural and linguistic norms of their university.

However, the interviewees expressed concerns about the social pressures and penalties that they might be subject to if they violated their local social norms.
