Apani

The Apani (Lyrian: "The Second Thought") were a race of predatory sinewy giants created by Taekyr. Generally believed to be a manifestation of Ugana's rage, Apani hunted and fed solely off of Harbingers and occasionally humanoid races. They generally killed equally for sustenance and sport, seemingly with the goal of driving all life on Kyros to extinction.

Taekyr, the first Apani, sculpted others in his own image from Ugana's frozen blood in the ancient ice caps of the Faelands sometime in the early Kudes Era. He and all Apani are believed to be aspects of Ugana, enacting her blind rage on Kutsal's creation as retribution for her murder. Lurhasil observed the destruction of the Apani following the arrival of mankind, and breathed fire over the Faelands' ice caps until they were melted entirely. This flooded the world briefly, creating all rivers as the waters receded. The Apani are known to have largely died off during this flood, with their bones forming mountains, canyons, and valleys. Taekyr was cleaved in half by Andain, and sentenced to pull the sun around the sky forever, in the form of the moons Aelan and Juraeng.
