Thyressia

From WFU Wiki

Thyressia is the name of a province located in the far east of the Thyrosic Empire. Thyressia is the largest province in the Empire, and is heavily forested.

Landscape

Thyressia has thick forests compared to the rest of Thyros, and because of this, farmland is a rare find. It has a temperate climate, though the rain shadow of the nearby Eýn Mountains makes it a good deal dryer than the bordering Túnsen.

To the north of Thyressia, the forest is thick and filled with small villages and hamlets. To the west, the same. To the east the forests give-way to the mighty Eýn Mountains, and to the south, the forests have been removed by Thyridic logging and give way to the town of Tohrá, the capital of the province.

Civilisation

Much of Thyressia's population is rural, with the majority living as hunters in the forests. Some live in the mountains of Eýn, with their homes contructed inside the rock.

The great export of Thyressia is timber, for every other great forest of the Empire has been taken down to just a fraction of what they once were. The forests here are sustainably harvested – a significantly progressive tactic that many civilizations may find alien.

Outside of Tohrá, many settlements are constructed in forest clearings, with the path to them being nothing more than an area without trees.

One particular oddity of Thyressia is the Hall of Black and White under Tohrá's church, which is said to lead to a vast underground cavern, though no one has ever gone to find it and reported back alive.
