The Kutai (Teoja: Kyuteo; Thyridic: Gewthai) are an amphibious race inhabiting the Kira Jungle and Aios. They have a long-standing rivalry with the Yakira, and often hunt them.

Kutai were the last beast race to achieve sentience from Harbingers, when Kalopsis stripped the Yakira of their humanity and gave it to the Kutai in exchange for their eternal worship.

Physiology

Kutai are an amphibious beast race. They have digitigrade feet, with large claws on both their hands and feet. Their bodies are covered with varying thicknesses of scales, providing a slight amount of natural armor. Their scales are often colored in patterns matching their environment- Anywhere from green-blue to leopard spotted beige. Due to their diet, they have straight, thick, razor-like teeth perfect for ripping meat as well as thick skinned fruits. They also have large back molars for eating plants, though these teeth are rarely used.

Most Kutai are physiologically capable of breathing underwater, but not all are accustomed to it.

They possess a high degree of sexual dimorphism, as well as significant differences between Inland Kutai and Fenland Kutai. The former are more adapted for life navigating the Kira’s thick jungles and hillier regions, possessing stronger legs and taller statures that enable them to see over large overgrowth. Fenland Kutai are more adapted for living amphibiously in the swamplands of The Fen, and are generally smaller and thinner to allow for more hydrodynamic swimming. Many Fenland Kutai have also grown fin-like appendages on their legs, arms, or back to aid with swimming.

Sexual Dimorphism

Male

Male Kutai's chest and belly are covered with thicker scale plates than the rest of their bodies, offering a mild form of natural armor, although it does not stand up well against metal weaponry. Smaller, softer scales that are closely spaced and very smooth exist on the hands, feet, and genital areas. Males are typically larger than females, averaging between 5’11-6’4”, with taller males more common among Inland Kutai populations.

Male Kutai penises are prehensile, thus rigidity and motion can be consciously controlled. As a result, the penis has no true “flaccid” state, behaving more like any other bodily muscle. When not in use, the Kutai penis is contained within a foreskin that is attached by a webbed tendon to the groin and lower abdomen area. This keeps the penis flush to the body when not aroused, allowing for better hydrodynamics while swimming. The webbed tendon is attached to the foreskin near the glans of the penis, and can be relaxed during sexual encounters, allowing the penis to angle more forward and down for ease of penetration. The testicles are held close to the body at the base of the penis, not hanging freely at all. Because female Kutai do not produce natural lubrication, the Kutai foreskin contains glands which produce a large amount of lubricant, which often drips or spills out slightly when the foreskin relaxes. This gives them the pejorative name “jelly-sacks” from other races.

Female

Female Kutai are typically shorter than males, averaging 5’2”-5’10”. They do not have heavier armor-like scale patterns like males do, and their abdomens are instead covered with small, fine, and smooth scales. While Kutai females seem to possess mammary glands typical of other mammalian races, they do not produce breast milk, as their offspring are laid in eggs. Instead, these glands produce a potent aphrodisiac, believed to be a powerful vasodilator and increase semen volume. Kutai males suckle the liquid from these glands during sexual encounters.

Kutai females possess two tails, as opposed to their male counterparts’ singular tail. Their secondary tail is used to grasp onto the foreskin of a Kutai male during intercourse, and hold it close to the vaginal opening. This allows for the foreskin’s natural lubrication to stay contained during sexual activity. As a result, female Kutai are often sexually selected for longer secondary tails.

Personality

Typical Kutai are observant, proud, and egotistical. Around other races they tend to remain quiet, and reserved, but still stand by their pride. They make up for in honor and pride what they lack in people skills. Being alienated from the outside world, Kutai rarely ever speak with anyone outside of their own race. This can make for awkward conversations and relatively dead social lives among other races.

The one thing a Kutai cares about more than their own life is their honor and their family's honor. Often soldiers will die by the hands of themselves or friendly soldiers (via suicide or assisted suicide) before dying in the hands of an enemy. Kutai tend to react harshly to insults when they are given, usually resulting in a non-lethal fight or worse circumstances.

The Thyrosic Empire is a widely disliked political power by nearly all Kutai. This is due to the centuries of expansion the Empire has tried to push into the Kira Jungle. Nearly all the attempts have been a lost cause, due to the impenetrable terrain and savagery of the Kutai.
